Five Nights at Freddy’s is officially out in theaters and on Peacock, and fans who have been waiting for the movie for months and years have all indulged themselves in some meaningful horror.

However, despite the film ending on a great note, there were still some questions left for the audience to figure out. For example, the character of Garrett was kept in the dark without too many reveals.

So, what happened to Garrett in Five Nights at Freddy’s? Garrett, the younger brother of Mike, is killed by William Afton, a serial killer who murdered children during the 1980s and tied the victim’s souls to the animatronic mascots. Likely, Garrett was also one of the animatronics because Mike only had the dreams when he was at Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza.

What Happened to Garrett and Who Killed Him in FNAF?

Mike is a troubled security guard who is dealing with the guilt of his past, and it has to do with Garrett, his younger brother. Apparently, everything happened when they went on a camping trip when he was young.

When their mother leaves them alone and asks Mike to watch after Garrett, his little brother disappears, and the only memory he has of the incident is seeing Garrett at the back of an unknown car.

After many years, he only has Abby, his younger sister, and gets a job at Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza with the help of Steve Raglan, his counselor.

While encountering the animatronics during the night, he eventually realizes that the mascots want to turn Abby into one of them and learns from Vanessa that William Afton is the killer behind the animatronics.

Apparently, he kidnapped multiple children during the early 1980s, and police didn’t find any bodies because he shoved them inside the mascots. Vanessa also reveals that she is the daughter of William Afton.

Furthermore, she regrettably was beside Garrett on the day of the kidnapping, as seen in the picture where she holds a small red airplane at the back of the car.

During the film’s conclusion, it was revealed that William Afton is none other than Steve, Mike’s counselor, who wanted to turn Abby into one of the mascots, but his plan ultimately failed.

Is Garrett One of the Animatronics in the Film?

While it was never specified in the movie that Garrett was one of the animatronics, there were a few clues pointing in that direction.

For example, Mike only enters the dream-like state when he’s at the restaurant, meaning there is some strong connection that puts him in that state where he dreams of Garrett.

In fact, his dreams become more vivid each time, meaning there is at least a part of Garrett present at Freddy’s, waiting for someone to free him from the torture William Afton is putting them through.

Furthermore, it was never revealed where Garrett was taken or murdered, meaning he could’ve been the Puppet, who was also the first victim of William, who was later converted into an animatronic.

While he isn’t one of the four animatronics, Freddy Fazbear, Foxy, Chica, and Bonnie, the Puppet is the most probable explanation because if Garrett were the first experiment of William, then it wouldn’t have been a 100% success.

He had to lock him away somewhere, and the Puppet can only influence the animatronic mascots to an extent. Thus, it makes sense for Garrett to be an animatronic but in the form of the Puppet.

So, what do you think about our theory on Garrett being an animatronic like other mascots? Do you believe it is a possibility?
