The Denver Broncos came into the 2022-23 NFL season with a lot of lofty expectations.

In some fans’ and analysts’ eyes, the acquisition of Russell Wilson from the Seattle Seahawks was supposed to catapult them either to the top or near the top of the AFC West.

Obviously that didn’t end up happening.

Wilson struggled mightily all season, and the Broncos were somehow the worst team in a division that contained the inept Las Vegas Raiders.

Things got so bad at one point that Wilson would spontaneously start to break down in tears after his games.

Fortunately, it wasn’t all bad news for the Broncos. While their players were awful for large swaths of the season, the team’s cheerleaders came to play. Specifically, Berkleigh.

Berkleigh, one of the team’s dancers, amassed a large following on social media long the way. This week she caused something of a stir with her newest wild photos.

Between the team’s cheerleaders going viral over their provocative photos and Wilson’s wild dancing videos with Ciara, the Broncos have been a permanent fixture in the headlines as of late. Just not for anything that is actually football-related.

The question is whether that will change going forward.

Over the offseason the front office went out and hired Sean Payton. The end goal is clear – add an adult to the room and see if he can squeeze any sort of productivity out of Wilson.

Nathaniel Hackett was definitely the wrong coach for last year’s squad. Whether Payton will prove to be the right one remains to be seen.

If he can turn Wilson back into the reliable quarterback he once was, it will be one of the more impressive feats of Payton’s career. But based on how all parties involved looked last season, it’s hard to be overly optimistic.

Will the Broncos have anything besides their cheerleaders to be proud of come next season? Time will tell.
